Word Work
Word Study will continue during enrichment. Students will be grouped by spelling patterns and taught their words during enrichment time. They can also practice their sorts at home with a take home sort follwing this schedule:
Word Study words follow this sort schedule:
Monday: Basic Word Sort- Sort words by headings. You should read aloud the words and be able to explain why the words are sorted in a particular way.
Tuesday: Writing Sort: Have your partner call out the words in a random order. You should write them into categories. If you misspell the word your partner will call out the words until you spell it correctly.
Wednesday: Blind Sort: Lay down the headers. Then have your partner read the words aloud. You must tell where the word goes without seeing it.
Thursday: Speed Sort: Sort the words as fast as you can and read them. Then repeat 2 more times.
Friday: assessment
